PARIS, Oct 1 – Novosti. The French Foreign Ministry has denied reports that the displaced head of the government of Burkina Faso, Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, is hiding in a French military base.
“France officially denies any involvement in the events that have taken place since yesterday in Burkina Faso. The camp in which the French troops are located has never received Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, as has our embassy,” the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Earlier, the media reported that a military group in Burkina Faso, led by Captain Ibrahim Traore, announced the removal of the head of the country’s transitional government, Lieutenant Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, the suspension of the constitution in the country, the dissolution of the government and the closure of borders. The French Embassy in Burkina Faso said earlier that the French army had nothing to do with what was happening in the country.
The military who came to power in Burkina Faso said that Sandaogo Damiba was hiding at a French military base, where he was preparing a “counteroffensive.”
