The opposition Kazakh National Social Democratic Party (OSDP) nominated the head of the capital branch of the party, Nurlan Auesbayev, as a presidential candidate, the corresponding decision was made on Saturday at the 19th extraordinary congress, follows from the broadcast, which was conducted on social networks.
On November 20, early presidential elections will be held in Kazakhstan.
“The congress decided to elect Auesbaev Nurlan Satybaldievich as a presidential candidate from the National Social Democratic Party,” party chairman Askhat Rakhimzhanov said.
Auesbaev was elected chairman of the OSDP metropolitan branch in 2021.
The right to nominate a presidential candidate, according to the law, belongs to registered republican public associations, including parties.
To be elected president, a candidate must be a citizen of Kazakhstan by birth, have resided in the territory of the republic for the last 15 years, have a higher education, be at least 40 years old, have an active suffrage, have at least five years of experience in civil service or elected public office, and be fluent in the Kazakh language.
The OSDP boycotted the presidential elections in 2019.
