MOSCOW, October 1 – Novosti. Readers of the German edition of Die Welt were outraged by the call of Andriy Melnyk, the ex-Ambassador of Ukraine in Berlin, to send heavy weapons to Kiev, including tanks.
Earlier, a Ukrainian official said that Germany should “put everything on the military card” and without delay equip Ukraine with all weapons systems, including Leopard tanks.
Many users criticized Melnik’s harsh words, reminding him of Berlin’s unwillingness to be embroiled in a full-blown conflict with Moscow .
“What a warmonger! Should we get even more involved in this crisis? Germany can only help other states if this help has a positive effect on her. I’m worried that right now we are engaged in self-destruction on all fronts at once, ” — wrote a commentator.
“Military rhetoric disgusts me! These people should be sent to the front lines!” – second supported him.
“This man has delusions of grandeur. The federal government should distance itself from Ukraine,” the user emphasized.
“He will perform until he achieves the end of the world. What a crazy one,” complained another.
“Melnik and Zelensky would be happy if Germany was in the thick of the conflict. They constantly provoke everyone, and then the first ones hide behind other people’s backs. Dangerous unhealthy behavior!” the reader was outraged.
“Melnyk is a well-known fascist and a fan of Bandera. He just wants to drag everyone into a crisis that concerns only Ukraine,” another user summed up.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said earlier that Berlin was not going to transfer tanks to Kiev, because this could lead to an escalation of tension between Russia and NATO .
Russia has previously sent a note to NATO countries because of the supply of weapons to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any cargo that contains weapons for Ukraine will become a legitimate target for Russia. The Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation stated that the NATO countries are “playing with fire” by supplying weapons to Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky fired Andriy Melnyk from his post as ambassador to Germany in July. The diplomat is known for his incorrect statements. So, he repeatedly demanded that Berlin provide weapons to Kiev , compared German Chancellor Olaf Scholz with “offended liver sausage.” He later expressed regret over these words. Melnik was replaced by Aleksey Makeev, who previously served as the government’s special representative for international sanctions policy.
