MOSCOW, October 1 – Novosti. Russia remains a member of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and continues to work as part of the organization, the Federal Air Transport Agency said in a statement.

“Russia remains a member of ICAO and continues to work as part of the organization. This did not allow the Russian Federation to be elected a member of the Council for the first group of ICAO states,” the statement says. message.
At the same time, the Federal Air Transport Agency notes that, according to the rules of standing procedures, when voting in the council, taking into account the non-election of the 11th member of the council, a re-vote is required. However, the Russian delegation was denied this.
“We believe that the unfriendly decision of the coalition of countries is political and is temporary. Our country’s contribution to the development of international aviation is recognized throughout the world. A number of our initiatives have been adopted within the framework of ICAO as standards and are used by states to develop safe international air traffic,” – the message says.
“The Russian Federation retains the right to full membership in an international organization and will continue its work through the Russian representation in ICAO, as well as in relevant ICAO working groups. The Russian Federation will, as before, adhere to the recommended practices and standards of ICAO in its activities, continuing to ensure high standards flight safety,” the agency said.
The agency also reports that this decision will not affect the performance of international flights by Russian airlines to friendly countries, since such interaction is based on bilateral agreements in the field of air traffic.
