MOSCOW, October 1 – Novosti. Moldovan President Maia Sandu said during a briefing that Ukraine is to blame for the escalation of the conflict with Russia, and then corrected herself. Sputnik Moldova drew attention to this .
“The conflict unleashed by Ukraine. Sorry, the conflict launched by Russia against Ukraine has crushed the international order and has serious consequences for the whole of Europe,” she said during a speech following a meeting with European Commissioner for Budget and Administration Johannes Hahn .
This is not the first time that the current government in Moldova allows itself to make anti-Russian statements. For example, on the eve of Sandu, she condemned the annexation of the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics to Russia, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions , calling the referendums illegal.
President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stressed that the blame for the current escalation of the situation in Ukraine lies with the Kiev regime, which in 2014 seized power by force and then launched hostilities in the Donbass.
The day before, the Kremlin hosted a ceremony of signing agreements on the admission of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions to Russia.
Referendums on joining Russia were held in four regions from 23 to 27 September. In the DPR , this proposal was supported by 99.23 percent of the voters, in the LPR – 98.42 percent, in the Kherson region – 87.05 percent, in the Zaporozhye region – 93.11 percent.
