
MOSCOW, October 1 – Novosti. The treaties signed on Friday in the Kremlin on joining the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions into the Russian Federation are not subject to revision or doubt by the West, said Vasily Piskarev, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption.
“The agreements signed today in the Kremlin fully comply with the norms of international law. The people who voted for reunification with Russia expressed their will in the most democratic way, and this decision cannot be questioned or revised at a wave from across the ocean,” Piskarev wrote in his Telegram -channel.
According to him, the current events will go down in the history books and help improve the lives of millions of our compatriots. “Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions are returning to their homeland,” Piskarev said.
According to the deputy, for residents of the new subjects, the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, joining Russia means the opportunity to speak and study in their native language in peaceful conditions and the absence of fear for the life of their children.
“The results of the referendums convincingly showed that it is together with Russia and as part of Russia that the population of these historical Russian lands sees their future. To be part of Russia means for them to stop being afraid for the lives of their children, to be able to speak and study in their native language and just live and work in peaceful conditions,” the deputy said.
Referendums on joining Russia were held in four regions from 23 to 27 September. In the DPR, this proposal was supported by 99.23% of the voters, in the LPR – 98.42%, in the Kherson region – 87.05%, in the Zaporozhye region – 93.11%.
On September 30, in the Georgievsky Hall of the Kremlin, a ceremony was held to sign agreements on the admission of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions to Russia. The documents were signed by Vladimir Putin and the heads of regions: Denis Pushilin , Leonid Pasechnik , Evgeny Balitsky and Vladimir Saldo .
