SIMFEROPOL, October 1 – Novosti. The priority task in the process of integrating new regions of the Russian Federation is to ensure the safety of their inhabitants, said State Duma deputy from the Crimean region Konstantin Bakharev.
On September 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke in the Kremlin following the results of referendums in the DPR , LPR , Kherson and Zaporozhye regions , after which he signed agreements with their heads on the admission of regions into Russia.
“The priority task in the process of integrating new regions of the Russian Federation is to protect and ensure the safety of their inhabitants. Without solving this problem, it is impossible to effectively deal with the issues of economic recovery in these regions,” Bakharev told Novosti.
The deputy stressed that while working in the corps of observers at the referendum in the Kherson region , he saw with his own eyes the extremely depressing state of social, engineering, and transport infrastructure, especially in rural areas.
“It is quite obvious that the Kyiv authorities did not invest in the development of the regions, and large amounts of budgetary funds will be required to normalize life in these territories. Of course, we will try to do everything so that the integration of new regions takes place as soon as possible and with minimal social costs for their residents,” the deputy said.
Referendums on the entry of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions into the Russian Federation were held on September 23-27. According to the results of processing 100% of the ballots in the DPR, 99.23% of those who voted for joining the Russian Federation, in the LPR – 98.42%, in the Kherson region – 87.05%, in the Zaporozhye region – 93.11%.
