PARIS, Oct 1 – Novosti. The Netherlands condemns Nicaragua’s decision to break off diplomatic relations, a spokesman for the Kingdom’s Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.
Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua announced the immediate severance of diplomatic relations with the Netherlands in connection with the intervention of the kingdom in the internal affairs of the state. This followed the announcement by the Netherlands that they would not fund a hospital in the Central American country due to human rights concerns.
“It is unfortunate that Nicaragua chose to respond so disproportionately to critical messages about democracy and human rights,” a spokesman for the Dutch Foreign Ministry told France Press.
