MEXICO CITY, October 1 – Novosti. About 50 countries unfriendly to Russia staged a demarche at the closing of the UNESCO world conference in Mexico City, reproaching the organizers for inviting Russia, Ambassador to Mexico Viktor Koronelli told Novosti.
“Today, the final declaration of the conference was adopted by consensus, a rather voluminous and non-conflicting document, so it was supported by all participants in the event. But after its adoption, there was a demarche of representatives of unfriendly countries,” the Russian diplomat said.
According to him, the demarche was attended by the countries of the European Union, “the Anglo-Saxons, the Young Europeans, that is, Eastern Europe, and a number of other delegations that joined,” a total of 48 countries.
Those accusing Russia because of the events in Ukraine did not listen to the answer of the Russian delegation, which confirms their unwillingness to conduct a dialogue, Coronelli said.
“We did not leave this demarche without attention – there was a very tough and very specific answer from the head of our delegation. During the answer, the demarche participants ran out of the hall like rats, this once again confirms that they do not want to hear other opinions and assessments,” the ambassador said. .
At the end of the conference, Coronelli added, representatives of a number of delegations, including South Africa , approached the Russian delegates with words of support and approval of the work of the Russian team.
The ambassador assessed the results of the UNESCO conference positively.
