
ANKARA, October 1 – Novosti. Ankara cannot recognize the accession of the DPR , LPR , Zaporozhye and Kherson regions to Russia, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement .
“This decision (on accession) is a gross violation of the established principles of international law and cannot be accepted by us,” the website of the Turkish Foreign Ministry says.
At the same time, the department reiterated the need for negotiations.
Agreements on the accession of regions to Russia were signed the day before.
The referenda were held from 23 to 27 September. In the DPR, 99.23% of people voted for joining Russia, in the LPR – 98.42%, in the Zaporozhye region – 93.11%, in the Kherson region – 87.05%.
According to Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya , the vote was held in accordance with the norms and principles of international law – more than a hundred observers recognized its results as legitimate.
