MOSCOW, October 2 – Novosti. The West has fallen into the trap of trying to destroy Russia with sanctions, Colonel Jacques Beau, a former Swiss intelligence officer and NATO adviser, told Grayzone.
He noted that the United States deliberately provoked the conflict in Ukraine in order to use it as a tool in the fight against Moscow .
“We don’t care about Ukraine as such; the original purpose of the conflict was to provoke Russia and destroy its economy through sanctions. The problem is that they don’t work,” Bo said.
The colonel explained that according to Washington ‘s original plans , the sanctions were supposed to inflict enormous damage on Russia and the hostilities would end extremely quickly. But the calculations of the United States did not materialize, and Ukraine became a “victim of a miscalculation” of its allies.
“We are introducing more and more new sanctions against it (Russia. – Ed.) – and all to no avail. The West has fallen into the trap of its own miscalculation, and for Ukraine this is very regrettable,” the officer emphasized.
In his opinion, the West is now unsuccessfully trying to politically weaken Moscow.
Since February 24, a special military operation has been underway to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine . Russian President Vladimir Putin called its task “the protection of people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years.” According to the president, the ultimate goal is the liberation of Donbass and the creation of conditions that guarantee the security of Russia itself.
