MOSCOW, October 2 – Novosti. The party of former Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, GERB, is winning the early parliamentary elections, the Sofia Globe reported , citing exit poll data conducted by the sociological agency Alpha Research.
The poll showed that the coalition of GERB and the Union of Democratic Forces (SDS) is gaining 25.5 percent of the vote. It is followed by the party of the resigned Prime Minister Kiril Petkov “Continue Changes” with 19.9 percent of the vote.
It is expected that the same coalitions that were in the previous composition will pass into parliament.
As the newspaper notes, the Vozrozhdeniye party, which advocates maintaining ties with Russia, is gaining ground and receiving about ten percent of the vote.
At the end of June, the Bulgarian parliament voted for a vote of no confidence and the resignation of the coalition government headed by Kiril Petkov. Attempts to form a new Cabinet ended in failure. The former prime minister, in turn, blamed the three politicians and the Russian ambassador to the country, Eleonora Mitrofanova, for what happened. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry , Maria Zakharova , commenting on Petkov’s words, said that he was tired and began to talk.
Last year, early parliamentary elections were held three times in Bulgaria due to the impossibility of forming a government based on their results. It was only after the elections in November that the politicians managed to form a government coalition.
