MOSCOW, October 2 – Novosti. Bundestag deputy Sarah Wagenknecht blamed the German government for dragging out the confrontation in Ukraine, Junge Welt writes .
“The Social Democratic Party is drawing us into a conflict that could end in a nuclear catastrophe. Only diplomacy will prevent further escalation,” the deputy stressed.
In her opinion, the economic war unleashed against Russia does not help, but, on the contrary, hinders the settlement of the crisis.
“Economic sanctions harm us more than Moscow, and bring record profits to Gazprom. Moreover, these measures serve the interests of Washington,” Wagenknecht said.
Since February 24, Russia has been conducting a military special operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine. Vladimir Putin called it the ultimate goal of the liberation of Donbass and the creation of conditions that guarantee the security of Russia itself.
From September 23 to 27, in the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions , referendums were held on joining Russia, in which the overwhelming majority of those who voted were in favor. On September 30, the president and heads of regions signed agreements on the admission of new territories to Russia. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Putin stressed that Russia will defend itself with all the forces and means at its disposal.
