
TEL AVIV, Oct 2 – Novosti. Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid will hold the first conference of the Israel-European Union Association Council after a 10-year break on Monday, the press service of the head of government reports.
According to the press service, the conference will be attended by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell and foreign ministers of a number of states. Israel will be represented by Intelligence Minister Elazar Stern.
It is expected that during the conference the parties will consider relations between Israel and the EU, discuss areas of cooperation and ways to develop and improve relations.
“The convening of the Association Council for the first time since 2012 is an important political achievement, reflecting the improvement in Israel’s relations with the European Union over the past year,” the press service said.
The council is the highest forum for advancing relations between Israel and the EU in scientific, economic, environmental and other fields, the press service writes.
