The Day of Secondary Vocational Education (SVE) in Russia should touch every student, college teacher and master of industrial training, the holiday will be celebrated in all regions, but its key events will be held in Yekaterinburg, said Russian Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov.
“The Day of secondary vocational education, announced by the President of the country on October 2, should touch every student, college teacher, master of industrial training. The holiday will be celebrated in all regions of our country. This year, its key events will be held in Yekaterinburg. The Sverdlovsk region is one of the leaders in the field It is no coincidence that we proposed to celebrate this new professional holiday in this region for the first time,” Kravtsov’s press service quoted him as saying.
It is noted that the Ministry of Education of Russia, together with the Institute for the Development of Vocational Education, is holding a number of events throughout the country dedicated to the new holiday. Among them are a competition of student videos about life in college, a competition-exhibition of materials about professional dynasties, about choosing a profession and college from the point of view of succession “History of professions in my family: Superprofessional family”.
The minister also noted that the free software industry in Russia is developing dynamically, about 600,000 ninth-graders choose free software, today there are new promising areas in colleges – information security, electronics, all these specialties are represented in the new federal state educational standards.
Olga Vasilyeva , President of the Russian Academy of Education , said that studying under secondary vocational education programs gives students the opportunity to quickly get a profession in demand and enter the labor market. In addition, SVE organizations are distinguished by territorial accessibility: there are colleges and technical schools in both small towns and rural areas, Vasilyeva added.
According to her, more than 60% of graduates of the ninth and 11th grades use the SVE trajectory today, the federal project “Young Professionals” of the national project “Education” has become a catalyst for positive changes in the system of secondary vocational education, which helped to improve not only the quality of education in SVE organizations but also the demand for and prestige of working professions.
The Day of Secondary Vocational Education in the Russian Federation was established on October 2 by decree of the President of Russia. The festive events began on September 28 and will last for several days. The day of secondary vocational education will be combined with the finals of the “Master of the Year” contest. The venues will be the international exhibition center “Ekaterinburg-EXPO”, as well as colleges and technical schools of the Sverdlovsk region.
