
DOHA, October 2 – Novosti. More than 150 demonstrators and security forces were injured during anti-government protests on the third anniversary of October popular protests in Baghdad and southern Basra province during security controls, medical sources told the Shafak news agency.
According to the agency, in Baghdad more than 40 members of the Security Forces and officers were injured as a result of the use of stones, Molotov cocktails and hunting rifles by demonstrators, while 63 demonstrators were injured by rubber bullets and tear gas canisters, as well as in a stampede. In Basra, among the demonstrators and security forces during today’s protests, there were 40 lightly wounded.
The police managed to establish full control over three squares in the center of Baghdad, which the demonstrators left after demanding that the political forces of Iraq change the regime in the country before October 25.
In turn, a source in law enforcement agencies told the agency that, “according to the Prime Minister’s instructions, live ammunition was not used during the demonstrations.”
