
MOSCOW, October 2 – Novosti. Rescuers of the Russian Emergencies Ministry eliminated 122 munitions from the times of the Great Patriotic War off the coast of Novorossiysk in the Krasnodar Territory, the press service of the department reports.
“Specialists of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia continue systematic work to clean up the Black Sea area from explosive ordnance during the Great Patriotic War. Another major operation was carried out off the coast of Novorossiysk: 122 munitions found in the sea near the city beach were defused. Its coast is a popular local recreation area,” it says. in the message.
It is clarified that diving and rescue specialists recognized the previously found objects “as a German SC-50 aerial bomb, Soviet FAB-100 and FAB-50 aerial bombs, as well as artillery shells with a caliber of 100 and 150 millimeters.” Rescuers examined more than 6,000 square meters of the seabed, including 122 munitions found: seven hand grenades, 75 mortar mines, 25 artillery shells, four aerial bombs and 11 incendiary aerial bombs.
Also, with the involvement of the forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and the Novorossiysk Cossack Society, the danger zone was cordoned off, and citizens living in the surrounding houses were notified in advance.
It is emphasized that the entire arsenal of ammunition was successfully eliminated, and no damage was done to the population and infrastructure.
“In total, four floating craft, 70 personnel and 12 pieces of equipment were involved in the operation to eliminate explosive objects,” the message added.
