
MOSCOW, October 2 – Novosti. The boundaries of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, will be determined by the borders that existed on the day of their formation and the day they were accepted into Russia, indicated in the international treaties submitted to the State Duma.
“The limits of the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic are determined by the borders of the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic that existed on the day of its formation and the day of its admission to the Russian Federation and the formation of a new subject within the Russian Federation,” one of the documents says.
The same wording is contained in the agreements with the LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
According to the decision of the Constitutional Court, the new territories are considered accepted into Russia from the date of signing the agreements (September 30), they will retain their current names, the leaders of the DPR and LPR will become the heads of the republics, and the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions will become governors.
In addition, the transitional period for the integration of new regions into the economic, financial, credit and legal systems of Russia, as well as into the system of public authorities, is set until January 1, 2026.
On September 30, President Vladimir Putin and the heads of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions signed agreements on the inclusion of new territories into Russia. After that, the documents were sent to the Constitutional Court for verification, and today it recognized them as consistent with the Basic Law.
Now treaties are subject to ratification by the State Duma and obligatory consideration in the Federation Council . The meeting of the lower house is scheduled for Monday, October 3, the upper house may consider the documents the next day.
