MOSCOW, October 2 – Novosti. Roskomnadzor has restricted access to the SoundCloud music service due to the placement of false information about a special military operation in Ukraine, Novosti was told in the press service of the department.
“At the request of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Russia, Roskomnadzor restricted access to the SoundCloud service in connection with the placement of materials containing false information about the nature of the special military operation on the territory of Ukraine, its form, methods of conducting hostilities (attacks on civilians, strikes on civilian infrastructure. — Note ed.), about numerous civilian casualties at the hands of Russian soldiers,” the statement says.
It is clarified that Roskomnadzor has already twice sent requests to the owner of the resource about the need to remove prohibited information. Only after that, access to the service in Russia will be unlocked, the department added.
As Anton Gorelkin, deputy head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, noted, in terms of SoundCloud it is said that there is a ban on misinformation, calls for violence and offensive remarks, but political preferences for the administration of the service are more important than their own rules. He also urged to wait for the appearance of Russian analogues of this resource.
