MOSCOW, October 2 – Novosti. A new aerial target simulating the flight of American Harpoon-type anti-ship missiles has been created for the Adjutant universal target training complex (UMTK), said on Sunday in the Military Acceptance program on the Zvezda TV channel, General Director – Chief Designer of the Aerocon company Vladimir Malyshev.
“This target has the ability to fly at a height of 10 meters. It has another sensor – an ultrasonic altimeter here, which allows you to switch to it and maintain altitude when descending. This is a logical continuation of the Adjutant complex, when the ship can launch the target itself and its own fire. This aircraft is designed to parachute into sea water and fly at low altitude,” he said.
In the frames of “Military Acceptance” – the launch of anti-aircraft missiles at a target from the modular “Tor-M2KM”, installed on the aft helipad of a warship. Two missiles intercept targets on the horizon, at the very edge of the water. The host of the program, Alexei Yegorov , clarifies that the Tor, using new targets, worked out the destruction of American Harpoon anti-ship missiles.
As Malyshev clarified, the peculiarity of the target is that it can be launched from the ship and returned after training – the target body will be made waterproof and buoyant, due to which, after training, the target is splashed near the ship, and the crew lifts it aboard for further use.
According to the developer, the target’s flight speed near the surface reaches 500 km/h, the flight duration is 4 hours, the drone target is designed for 20 takeoffs and landings.
