MOSCOW, October 2 – Novosti. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have serious problems with winter uniforms, Ukrainian servicemen told Strana.ua .
According to lieutenant Yaroslav M., the brigade in which he serves is not even going to be given a warm uniform, despite the requests of the soldiers. At the same time, the fighters are deployed in the north-east of the country and freeze at night.
“The authorities said that the warehouses of the brigade were destroyed by artillery fire of the Russians at the beginning of the war <… > and we need to wait for new arrivals. <…> It has become customary that when you come to the warehouse to get shoes or uniforms, for some reason there are always no right sizes. Or you get a uniform that is already useless, worn by someone,” he added.
Sergeant Konstantin V. said that for some reason his unit had been issued winter uniforms in the summer. As a result, the fighters had to store things right in their positions.
“Then we retreated and, of course, we abandoned everything we received – then there was no time for that. According to the documents, we seemed to have received a form, in fact, no one simply has it,” Konstantin explained.
Senior soldier Igor Shch. noted that during the three years of service in the Ukrainian army he had never seen the timely issuance of equipment. Because of this, the military has to dress at its own expense. At the same time, corruption is rampant in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the form that has disappeared from warehouses ends up on online trading platforms, he added.
Major Alexander F. noted that there was not enough winter uniform for everyone in his unit, and also criticized the quality of equipment produced in Ukraine .
“Unfortunately, the Ukrainian models of uniforms and ammunition do not stand up to criticism yet – they are completely unsuitable for military operations,” the officer said.
Since February 24, Russia has been conducting a military special operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine. Vladimir Putin called its task “the protection of people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years.” According to the president, the ultimate goal of the operation is the liberation of Donbass and the creation of conditions that guarantee the security of Russia itself.
