During the night, Ukrainian troops shelled Horlivka, Makiivka and Yakovlevka four times, including from NATO-caliber artillery, according to the Telegram channel of the Donetsk People’s Republic representative office in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to War Crimes of Ukraine.
The first shelling after midnight began at 01:13, the Kalininsky district of Gorlovka came under fire.
“Three shells of 155 mm caliber were fired,” the publication says.
20 minutes later, an attack on the Chervonogvardeisky district of Makeevka followed – three more of the same shells. At 02:10, the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired four 122-mm shells at the Nikitovsky district of Gorlovka, and at 02:29 five 152-mm shells at Yakovlevka.
Over the past 24 hours, seven people were killed and ten were injured during shelling by the Ukrainian army.
Artillery of 155 mm caliber is in service with NATO. In particular, these are American M-777 howitzers, German PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts, Polish Krab self-propelled guns and French CAESAR self-propelled guns. The United States and its allies supplied Kiev with a large number of these guns, which the Armed Forces of Ukraine use primarily for shelling cities and towns in the Donbass .
Since February 24, Russia has been conducting a military special operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine. Vladimir Putin called its task “the protection of people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years.” According to the president, the ultimate goal of the operation is the liberation of Donbass and the creation of conditions that guarantee the security of Russia itself.
From 23 to 27 September in the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics, in Kherson and in the liberated territories of the Zaporozhye region , referendums were held on joining Russia. The vast majority of those who voted were in favour. On September 30, Putin and the heads of regions signed agreements on the admission of new territories to Russia.
