
St. Petersburg, October 2 – Novosti. Citizens of Ukraine and stateless persons living in the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions are recognized as citizens of the Russian Federation from the date of admission of subjects in the Russian Federation, the text of the decisions of the Constitutional Court says.
“Article 5 of the Treaty under consideration, according to which, from the date of admission to the Russian Federation of the DPR and the formation of new subjects within the Russian Federation, citizens of the DPR, Ukraine and stateless persons permanently residing on that day on the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic are recognized as citizens of the Russian Federation, with the exception of persons who, within one month after this day, declare their desire to retain their existing citizenship and (or) their minor children or remain stateless, also does not contradict the Constitution of the Russian Federation, including its Article 6, since it does not force to the rejection of the admission to the Russian Federation that is available on the day,” the resolutions say.
A similar decree applies to the LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
The Constitutional Court of Russia recognized the treaties on the admission of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions , to the Constitution of the Russian Federation .
