MOSCOW, October 9 – Novosti. Russia, in the face of unprecedented sanctions pressure, needs to increase the level of technological sovereignty in the agro-industrial complex, which means building up opportunities in breeding and genetics, said Russian President Vladimir Putin in his congratulations on the Day of the Agricultural Worker.
“Working under unprecedented sanctions pressure poses new challenges for the agro-industrial complex. We will solve them together, with the support of the state, use the restrictions introduced for our own development. We need to increase the level of technological sovereignty in the agricultural sector, which means increasing our capabilities in breeding, genetics, seed production, to stimulate the transition to modern domestic equipment and machinery, to create conditions for further inflow of investments,” Putin said.
The President recalled that in September the government approved an updated strategy for the development of the agro-industrial complex. Among its key priorities is improving the quality of life in rural areas.
“And this is the construction of new modern houses, the further development of the Rural Mortgage program, this is the modernization of social, engineering, transport infrastructure and the comprehensive improvement of rural areas. In a word, everything that is important for people,” Putin added.
He thanked the industry representatives for their professionalism, responsibility, prudent approach and desire to revive the best agricultural traditions.
