
MEXICO CITY, Oct 9 – Novosti. The agreement between Russia and Mexico on cooperation in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes does not affect topics related to the Russian GLONASS satellite navigation system, the Mexican Foreign Ministry says .
“The signed document does not provide for actions related to the GLONASS system, in addition, there are no forecasts that this could be included in the near future,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement posted on the government’s website.
It is noted that the agreement is currently in the process of approval. Until it was sent to the Senate for consideration.
Earlier it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the ratification of an intergovernmental agreement with Mexico on cooperation in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes. The document was signed on September 28, 2021. As noted, it provides, in particular, for the installation of GLONASS stations in Mexico. The agreement creates a legal basis for the development of Russian-Mexican cooperation in this area, as well as for the practical application of space systems and technologies for peaceful purposes.
