Baku offered Yerevan to postpone the meeting of the commission on delimitation

MOSCOW, October 3 – Novosti. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, during a meeting in Geneva with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan , proposed holding the next meeting of the delimitation commission in October, not in November, as previously agreed.
“During the meeting, the Azerbaijani side, taking into account the recent tension on the non-delimited border, proposed to hold the next meeting of the bilateral delimitation commissions in October this year instead of November, as agreed earlier,” the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a release on its website.
It is added that the Azerbaijani side at the meeting stressed the need for “the complete withdrawal of the armed forces of Armenia from the territory of Azerbaijan in accordance with the tripartite statements signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia and the agreements reached between the leaders, the opening of transport and communication lines as soon as possible on the basis of preliminary agreements reached within the framework of a tripartite commission chaired by deputy prime ministers, making progress on delimitation work.” In addition, questions of missing persons were raised.
On the night of September 13, hostilities broke out on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the parties accused each other of starting the escalation. Yerevan stated that the Azerbaijani military fired at the border territories of Armenia – Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor, Syunik regions (connects Armenia with Iran ) using artillery and drones. These territories have nothing to do with Karabakh. Baku stated that the Armenian military fired at the positions of the Azerbaijani troops on the border, there was a clash. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry accused Armenia of intending to disrupt the peace process. Both sides reported casualties among their military.
By morning, the parties agreed on a ceasefire. As the head of the international committee of the Federation Council Grigory Karasin told Novosti , a truce on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan was achieved thanks to the efforts of Russia – including after the conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the work of the Russian Foreign Ministry. The Collective Security Council of the CSTO reached an agreement to send a mission to Armenia headed by the organization’s Secretary General Stanislav Zas.
