Media: there are people in the British Parliament who want to hold a vote of no confidence in Truss

MOSCOW, October 3 – Novosti. A member of the British Parliament is going to write a letter to the chairman of the steering committee of the Conservative Party (the so-called “Committee of 1922”) Graham Brady, asking for a vote of no confidence in party leader Liz Truss, reports Bloomberg.
Sky News previously reported that steps were being taken in the British Parliament on this measure due to the government’s new plan to support the country’s economy.

“Another MP, who wished to remain anonymous, said he was so concerned about Truss’s approach that he would be writing a letter <…> to Brady asking for a vote of no confidence in her as party leader,” the agency said.

According to party rules, the prime minister enjoys a one-year immunity from a vote of no confidence. However, the MP hopes that attitudes can be changed if enough MPs follow suit and send letters.
“However, reaching the numbers that would force Brady to act <…> is not easy,” the agency notes.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Finance, Kwazi Kwarteng, presented in Parliament a “support plan” for the country’s economy, which implies a large-scale tax cut. Kvarteng announced the cancellation of the planned increase in corporate income tax to 25 percent from the previous 19 percent. After that, the yield of five-year government bonds in the UK rose to the highest level since 2008 of 4.6 percent, which means a decrease in demand for British debt securities. The Truss government faced a flurry of criticism.
