HELSINKI, Oct 4 – Novosti. Estonia handed over to the Ukrainian military the drones that the Russian tried to take out of the country for the Russian army in July this year, the Estonian embassy in Kiev announced on Tuesday.
“Remember the Russian citizen who tried to smuggle drones for the Russian army? In addition to his arrest, the Estonian security police seized the drones that he bought and handed them over to the Ukrainian army,” the embassy said in a statement.
The Estonian Security Police confirmed this information. “These drones did get to Ukraine, but in the right way and from the right side of the front,” the police said on social media.
In July, the Harju Uyezd Court in Tallinn sentenced a resident of the Pskov region , truck driver Vladimir Shilov, who also has Estonian citizenship, to four months in prison. He was detained at the Koidula border crossing while trying to take drones destined for the Russian army to Russia from Estonia.
According to the court, Shilov made a public appeal on the social network VKontakte to support Russia by buying drones and raising funds for this purpose. In this appeal, the man asked to transfer money to his bank accounts to buy drones. With the funds received from this, adding part of his money, Shilov purchased three drones.
Last week, Shilov announced on his VKontakte page that he had been released from an Estonian prison and arrived home in Pechory .
