TASHKENT, October 4 – Novosti. An explosion as a result of a fire occurred on Tuesday at the territory of Maksam-Chirchik JSC, the second largest producer of nitrogen fertilizers in Uzbekistan, in Chirchik, Tashkent region, the regional hokimiyat (administration) reports .
“On Tuesday, at about 08.30 (06.30 Moscow time), a fire broke out in the synthesis shop of plant No. 5 of the Maksam-Chirchik enterprise in Chirchik, Tashkent region, which led to an explosion,” the khokimiyat’s Telegram channel said.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan, rescuers and equipment are currently working at the scene of the emergency, measures are being taken to localize and eliminate the fire, and the consequences of the incident are being clarified.
“During the explosion at the plant, neither the employees, nor other production facilities of the plant, nor the places of residence of people were injured,” the press service of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic specifies. A commission headed by Deputy Prime Minister, Energy Minister Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov arrived at the scene, the ministry added.
