PARIS, Oct 4 – Novosti. France is shocked by the video recordings of the executions of Armenian prisoners of war by Azerbaijani servicemen and calls on Azerbaijan to release the Armenian prisoners, a spokesman for the republic’s Foreign Ministry said.
“We are deeply shocked by the video footage … of the execution of Armenian prisoners by the Azerbaijani army … France calls for the release of all held Armenian prisoners,” a representative of the French Foreign Ministry said at a briefing on Tuesday.
He also added that France took note of Baku ‘s statement about the launch of an investigation into these actions and calls for bringing the perpetrators to justice.
Earlier, video footage of the execution of allegedly Armenian prisoners of war by the Azerbaijani military was circulated on social networks. The Armenian Foreign Ministry called on the international community to increase pressure on Azerbaijan and condemned new and past videos “evidencing war crimes by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, extrajudicial killings and torture of Armenian prisoners of war.” The office of the representative of Armenia on international legal issues reported that these video frames were submitted to the European Court of Human Rights and the International Court of Justice . However, the day before , EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Toivo Klaar said that he had received videos “probably demonstrating war crimes against Azerbaijanis.”
