NEW DELHI, Oct 4 – Novosti. More than 140 out of 168 million people in Bangladesh were left without electricity due to a power outage, reports Times Now .
It is reported that the national power transmission network failed at 14:05 (11:05 Moscow time). According to the Energy Development Council of Bangladesh and the Bangladesh Electricity Company, the power grid was first switched off in the eastern part of the country, after which the other transmission networks were switched off one by one, which led to power outages in most of the regions.
Mohd Moxedur Rahman, Chief Engineer of the Bangladesh Power Grid Company, said the problem has not yet been resolved, the authorities are gradually turning on the networks one after another, fearing a new failure. The causes of the accident are being investigated.
The country’s Mobile Operators Association said telecommunications services could be interrupted due to the electricity situation.
