“Today, Ukraine needs, first of all, weapons. We still don’t give enough of them. Ensuring the supply of weapons to Ukraine requires increasing the production capabilities of the defense industry on both sides of the Atlantic,” Duda said in an address to the participants of the Warsaw Security Forum, which was read by the head of the National Security Bureau Poland Pavel Solokh .
“At the moment, we are producing little, slowly in order to support Ukraine and at the same time strengthen our potential in relation to the growing threat from Russia,” Duda said.
Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine on February 24. President Vladimir Putin called its goal “the protection of people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years.” For this, according to him, it is planned to carry out “demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine”, to bring to justice all war criminals responsible for “bloody crimes against civilians” in Donbass . The ultimate goal of the operation, according to the supreme commander, is “the liberation of Donbass and the creation of conditions that would guarantee the security of Russia itself.”
Russia has previously sent a note to NATO countries because of the supply of weapons to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any cargo that contains weapons for Ukraine will become a legitimate target for Russia. The Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation stated that the NATO countries are “playing with fire” by supplying weapons to Ukraine. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov noted that pumping Ukraine with weapons from the West does not contribute to the success of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and will have a negative effect.
