The lawsuit notes that Trump is not a fan of the channel, not because it broadcasts the news badly, but because it “makes the news” by telling lies. Trump’s lawyers say the channel’s attacks on their client have intensified in recent months due to “fears that he could run for president in 2024.
“In its efforts to tilt the political balance to the left, the channel labeled the plaintiff with even more scandalous, false and slanderous labels – like ‘racist’, ‘Russian lackey’, ‘rebel’ and eventually ‘Hitler’,” the lawsuit says.
The document cites a number of episodes where Trump was slandered on the air of the TV channel or on its website. According to the authors of the lawsuit, the TV channel acted intentionally and refused the opportunity to refute or apologize for its actions.
CNN is traditionally pro-democracy, having openly supported Democratic candidates in past election campaigns – Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020.
