VTsIOM: 83 percent of Russians supported the protection of new territories

MOSCOW, 4 Oct – Novosti. More than 80% of Russians believe that the Russian Federation should protect the interests of the residents of the DNR, LNR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, even if this complicates relations with other countries, according to the results of a survey by VTsIOM .
According to the study, 83% of Russian citizens believe that the Russian Federation should protect the interests of the residents of the DPR, LPR and the liberated regions of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, even if this complicates relations with other countries, 11% of respondents gave a negative answer, 6% found it difficult to answer.

Russia is getting bigger
Referendums on the entry of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions into the Russian Federation were held on September 23-27. According to the results of processing 100% of the ballots in the DPR, 99.23% of those who voted for joining the Russian Federation, in the LPR – 98.42%, in the Kherson region – 87.05%, in the Zaporozhye region – 93.11%. On September 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke in the Kremlin following the results of referendums in the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, after which he signed agreements with their heads on the admission of regions into Russia.
The all-Russian telephone survey “VTsIOM-Sputnik” was conducted on October 1 among 1600 citizens over 18 years old. The data are weighted by socio-demographic parameters. The marginal error with a probability of 95% does not exceed 2.5%.
