MAYKOP, October 5 – Novosti . The Circassian diasporas of Israel and Syria congratulated Adygea on the 100th anniversary of its formation and agreed with the authorities of the South Russian region to strengthen ties, the press service of the republican government reports.
The head of Adygea Murat Kumpilov met with representatives of the Circassian charitable society of Syria, as well as with activists of Adyge Khase village of Kfar-Kama of Israel, who congratulated the inhabitants of Adygea on the 100th anniversary of statehood. Kumpilov emphasized the importance of a positive dialogue between the Adyghe diasporas and the Adyghes living in their historical homeland, in Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia and the Krasnodar Territory .
“We – the Circassians of the whole world – must be united in our desire to improve the lives of the peoples with whom we live. We are very pleased that in the year of the 100th anniversary of the statehood of Adygea, you were able to visit your small Motherland and convey good wishes to us,” said Kumpilov.
According to the authorities of the republic, the Adyghe Khase of Syria was established in 1948 and today it has 5 departments that study and preserve all dialects of the Adyghe language, culture and traditions. The Circassian community of Israel, numbering about 3.5 thousand people. Israeli Circassians live compactly in Kfar-Kam, Rihaniye and the Upper Galilee, the society publishes the magazine “Circassian” in Hebrew and Adyghe, and operates an ethnographic museum.
