The territory of Azovstal will be transformed into an industrial park

DONETSK, October 5 – Novosti. The territory of the Azovstal metallurgical plant in Mariupol, which was seriously damaged during the hostilities, will be transformed into an industrial park by 2035, Prime Minister of the DPR Vitaly Khotsenko said in an interview with Novosti.
“The concept of the master plan for the development of Mariupol provides that by 2035 we will transform the territory of the plant into an industrial park. That is, we do not remove these areas and facilities from the industrial zone. People will work there in their specialized specialty,” Khotsenko said.
According to him, demining and inspection of the territory is being carried out. After that, industrial buildings and equipment will be examined.
At the time of the proclamation of the DPR in 2014, Mariupol, with a population of about 450,000, was part of the republic as the second largest city after Donetsk . However, in June of the same year, Ukrainian security forces captured Mariupol, carrying out a punitive operation there. On May 20, 2022, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced the complete liberation of the city – the underground facilities of the Azovstal plant, where the militants of the Azov regiment * (against whom criminal cases were initiated in the Russian Federation) and the Ukrainian military were hiding, came under the control of the Russian armed forces.
