
ROSTOV-ON-DON, October 6 – Novosti. Astrakhan farmers are planning to increase the harvest of vegetables, melons and potatoes to about 2 million tons this season, Governor of the Astrakhan Region Igor Babushkin said .
“Over the past few years, our region has been ranked first in Russia in growing vegetables. This season we plan to harvest more than 2 million tons of vegetables, gourds and potatoes, and this is an increase of 105 percent,” he wrote on Telegram. The governor clarified that 740,000 tons of vegetables have already been sent from the fields to the trade counters of the region and Russia as a whole, and the harvesting campaign continues.
The region presented its achievements and plans at the all-Russian exhibition “Golden Autumn”, which is taking place these days in the Patriot park in the Moscow region . “All our gastronomic abundance is presented at the stand of the Astrakhan region – from canned vegetables to fish delicacies. I wish the Astrakhan delegation successful work and worthy evaluation of work!” Babushkin noted.
He added that Astrakhan farmers invest in the development of their farms not only a lot of effort and money, but also their souls. For its part, the government of the region is trying to support them financially – it offers participation in various programs and grant competitions. State support allows you to purchase equipment, machinery, seeds and animals, to compensate for the costs.
