
ANKARA, October 6 – Novosti. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, participating in the first meeting of the European Political Community in Prague, during a conversation on the sidelines, jokingly suggested to his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron that France be included in the Organization of Turkic States.
The concept of the European political community belongs to Macron. According to him, Europe needs a structure for the development of cooperation in such areas as geopolitics, energy, infrastructure and transport, with countries with which such close integration is impossible, as within the European Union. The main topics of the summit, which will be attended by leaders of 44 countries, will be the situation in Ukraine , the energy crisis and the economy. Bilateral and multilateral meetings will be held on the sidelines of the summit. In particular, the EU is planning contacts for another attempt to resolve the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan . Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to address the summit participants via video link.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Erdogan spoke with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev , Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan , and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban . They were also joined by French President Emmanuel Macron.
According to the TRT Haber TV channel, during a conversation about the Organization of Turkic States, Erdogan told Macron: “Makron, let’s take you too.”
The Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (Turkic Council), established in 2009, decided to change its name to the Organization of Turkic States in November 2021 at the Istanbul Summit. The organization includes Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan , Kyrgyzstan , Turkey and Uzbekistan , Turkmenistan and Hungary participate as observers .
