
MOSCOW, November 1 – Novosti. Azur Air, a private carrier, will start launching direct charter flights to Sri Lanka from Russia from November 2, the first cities will be Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk and Novosibirsk, Novosti was told at the Sri Lankan embassy.
“The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow is pleased to announce that Azur Air, one of the leading private airlines in the Russian Federation, is launching direct flights to Sri Lanka from November 2, 2022,” the embassy said.
The airline plans to start with charter flights from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk and Novosibirsk, they added, after passing the necessary procedures, the airline will organize regular flights to Colombo .
“Given that the Russian Federation is one of the main sources of tourist flow for Sri Lanka, the Embassy believes that this initiative will make a significant contribution to achieving the goals of the Sri Lankan tourism sector in the coming years, while having a positive impact on the currency situation in the country,” – added to the embassy.
Earlier it became known that Sri Lanka extended the validity of a visa for Russians from a month to six months, the regime will be valid until June 25, 2023.
