MOSCOW, September 30 – Novosti. Followers of Islam in the North Caucasus welcome the will of the inhabitants of Zaporozhye and Kherson regions to join Russia and will provide them with assistance, Chairman of the Coordinating Center for Muslims of the North Caucasus (KCM SK) Ismail Berdiyev told Novosti on Friday.
“I am sure that a free vote in the referendum on the entry of new regions into Russia and the decision of the local population is the right choice. The new regions of our country have a good chance to realize themselves in a new status in a free country – Russia. We will provide the necessary support to the population living there” , – said Novosti on Friday, the chairman of the KCM SK.
Berdiev noted that the North Caucasus is already providing support to these areas and will continue to do so.
“Our assistance consists in collecting and sending humanitarian cargo – medical supplies, warm clothes. This practice already exists in our region. I am very pleased that a lot of young people take part in such actions – students of universities, secondary educational institutions. The guys are eager to help those who needs it,” the head of the UK CCM said.
The Chairman of the CCM UK also said that the followers of Islam in the North Caucasus are praying both for fellow believers and for all residents of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
Referendums on the question of joining Russia were held from 23 to 27 September in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics , as well as in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions . According to the results of processing 100% of the ballots in the DPR , 99.23% of those who voted for joining the Russian Federation, in the LPR – 98.42%, in the Kherson region – 87.05%, in the Zaporozhye region – 93.11%. Russian President Vladimir Putin said last week that Russia would support the decision, which will be made by the residents of Donbass , Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
On Friday, in the Georgievsky Hall of the Kremlin, a ceremony will be held to sign agreements on the entry of four new territories into Russia, in which Putin will take part. The day before, the president signed decrees recognizing Kherson and Zaporozhye regions as independent territories.
