MOSCOW, September 30 – Novosti. Ballet star Sergei Polunin spoke about the persecution because of the performance to the song SHAMAN (Yaroslav Dronov) “Let’s get up” in Uzbekistan. He shared the details on social media.
“The reaction that followed after the performance is unacceptable. And we should not allow such behavior with us by Russian artists. Unfortunately, this has not yet reached the employees of the Fund for Cultural Initiatives of Uzbekistan. Pressure and threats continue,” Polunin said.
He insists that “there were no surprises on the show” – the program was agreed in advance.
Earlier, Polunin said that after he “danced a solo about Russian soldiers, about dead Russian soldiers,” employees of the Fund for Cultural Initiatives of Uzbekistan began to shout: “Who allowed him to dance to this song?”
The artist complained that they also “decided not to pay the dancers per diem” and “sue the money they paid.”
The Fund for the Development of Culture and Art of Uzbekistan claims that Polunin’s performance was not according to the approved program. The track SHAMAN was included instead of Take Me To Church by Irish musician Hozier.
