MOSCOW, September 30 – Novosti. For decades, they tried to eradicate the historical consciousness of the inhabitants of Donbass, but they retained their love for their homeland and passed it on to their children, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
“For decades, they tried to eradicate their historical consciousness from these people, to destroy their traditions, to forbid them to speak their native language, to ban culture, but nothing succeeded,” Putin said at a concert dedicated to the annexation of new territories to Russia.
“These people carried love for their historical homeland in their hearts and passed it on to their children,” Putin added.
On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and the heads of the DPR , LPR , Zaporozhye and Kherson regions signed agreements on the annexation of regions to Russia and the formation of new subjects within the Russian Federation.
Referendums on the issue of joining Russia were held from 23 to 27 September in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions . According to the results of processing 100% of the ballots in the DPR, 99.23% of those who voted for joining the Russian Federation, 98.42% in the LPR, 87.05% in the Kherson region, and 93.11% in the Zaporozhye region. Representatives of a number of Western countries, including the EU , said they did not recognize the results of the referendums. At the same time, the referendum was monitored by international observers, including those from EU countries, who confirmed the free will of citizens.
