
MOSCOW, December 31 – Novosti. One person died, another was injured in a transformer fire at the Rostov nuclear power plant, according to the Rosenergoatom website.
It is noted that the fire started at 18.30 on Saturday, the block transformer of power unit No. 3, which is under scheduled repairs, caught fire. The fire was extinguished at 18.42.
“One dead station worker and one injured were found at the site of the fire. The injured employee was hospitalized, he is receiving qualified medical care,” the report says.
It is noted that there are no violations of the limits and conditions for the safe operation of the equipment. The radiation background at the NPP and in the area of its location has not changed, is at a level corresponding to normal operation, and does not exceed natural background values.
