Russia extends rice export ban

MOSCOW, December 31 – Novosti. The Russian government has extended the temporary ban on rice exports for six months, until June 30, 2023, the corresponding document is published on the legal information portal .
“To establish from January 1 to June 30, 2023, inclusive, a temporary ban on the export of rice (code 1006 of the Unified Commodity Nomenclature for Foreign Economic Activity of the Eurasian Economic Union) and rice groats (code 1103 19 500 0 of the Unified Commodity Nomenclature for Foreign Economic Activity of the Eurasian Economic Union) (hereinafter referred to as rice ) from the Russian Federation,” the statement said.
It is added that the temporary ban does not apply to rice exported to the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as to provide humanitarian assistance based on decisions of the Russian government, as well as to rice exported under intergovernmental agreements and transit traffic. Also, the restrictions do not apply to goods transported between parts of the territory of Russia through other countries.
In Russia, from July 1 to December 31, 2022, there are restrictions on the export of rice and rice groats, which were introduced after the accident at the Fedorovsky hydroelectric complex in the Kuban in order to eliminate the risks of shortages and ensure stable prices for finished products for consumers.
On November 30, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture proposed to extend the ban on rice exports for six months, until June 30, 2023, to ensure the country’s food security, the corresponding draft government decree was published on the official Internet portal of legal acts.
